Gauhati University has issued Advertisement No. NTS-9/2025 inviting applications from eligible Indian citizens for recruitment under the Population Research Centre (sponsored by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India).

Vacancy Details

  • Assistant Professor – 1 post (Unreserved), Pay Scale: Rs. 57,700 – Rs. 1,82,400/
  • Research Investigator – 1 post (Unreserved), Pay Scale: Rs. 30,000 – Rs. 1,10,000/- plus Grade Pay of Rs. 13,900/-

Qualifications & Experience

1. Assistant Professor

  •  Qualifications: As per latest UGC guidelines (2018).
  • Subject: Master’s Degree in Demography, Population Studies, Statistics, Biostatistics, Economics, Mathematics, Sociology, Social Work, Geography, Psychology, or Anthropology. Candidates with a P.G. degree other than Demography/Population Studies must have completed a minimum one-year regular course in Demography/Population Studies from a recognized institution or university.
  •  Experience: As per latest UGC rules.

2. Research Investigator

  • Qualifications: At least second-class Post Graduate degree in Demography, Population Studies, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Anthropology, or Geography.
  • Skills: Knowledge of computer applications with proficiency in MS-Word, MS-Excel, and statistical software such as SPSS and R-Programming.
  • Experience: Minimum three years’ experience in data collection, analysis, and report writing (relaxable for candidates with higher qualifications).

Age Limit

  •  For Assistant Professor: Not above 55 years.
  • For Research Investigator: Not above 38 years.

  •  Application Fee: Rs. 1,500/- for each post, to be paid through SBI Collect.
  • Submission: Send two copies of the application form along with self-attested copies of all relevant documents to The Registrar, Gauhati University, Guwahati – 14.
  • The envelope must clearly mention the name of the post and advertisement number.
  • Last Date: 01 September 2025.
  • Applicants working in government or private organizations must apply through the proper channel or submit a No Objection Certificate.

  • The University reserves the right to withdraw, modify, or cancel the recruitment process.
