BTC Forest Department Announces Recruitment for 157 Forester-I and Forest Guard Posts

The Central Selection Board, BTC has released an official recruitment notification inviting online applications from eligible candidates who are permanent residents of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) area, Assam. The recruitment is being conducted to fill vacant posts of Forester-I and Forest Guard (Grade-III) under the Forest Department, BTC.

Candidates belonging to the newly included 60 villages from Biswanath and Sonitpur districts now under Udalguri district of BTC are also eligible to apply, as per government notifications. The number of vacancies may increase or decrease depending on administrative requirements.


Total Number of Vacancies

A total of 157 sanctioned vacant posts have been notified under this recruitment drive.

Out of these, 47 posts are for Forester-I, while 110 posts are for Forest Guard (Grade-III).


Post-Wise Pay Scale

The post of Forester-I carries a pay scale under Pay Band-2 of ₹14,000 to ₹49,000 with Grade Pay of ₹6,200, along with other allowances admissible under ROP, 2017.

The Forest Guard post is also under Pay Band-2 of ₹14,000 to ₹49,000 with Grade Pay of ₹5,600, along with applicable allowances.


Educational Qualification and Age Limit

For the Forester-I post, candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
For the Forest Guard post, the minimum qualification required is Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent.

The age limit for both posts is 18 to 40 years as on 01 January 2026. Age relaxation is applicable for SC/ST candidates up to 5 years and for OBC/MOBC candidates up to 3 years, as per government rules.


Physical Standards

Candidates must meet the prescribed physical standards.
The minimum height requirement is 163 cm for male and 153 cm for female candidates in the General category, while for ST (P) category, it is 153 cm for male and 145 cm for female candidates.

For male candidates, the chest measurement must be 79 cm (normal) and 84 cm (expanded).


Application Fee

Candidates belonging to General, OBC, and MOBC categories are required to pay an application fee of ₹150, while SC and ST candidates need to pay ₹100.
The fee must be paid online only through UPI, debit card, credit card, or net banking.


How to Apply

Applications must be submitted online only through the official website www.centralselectionboard.com.
The online application process will remain open from 23 February 2026 to 15 March 2026 (up to 12:00 midnight).

Candidates are required to upload educational certificates, age proof, caste or BTC residential certificates, photograph, and signature in the prescribed format. Only residents of the BTC area are eligible to apply.


Selection Process

The recruitment process will consist of multiple stages.
Candidates will first undergo a Physical Fitness Test, which includes 26 km walking for male candidates and 16 km walking for female candidates within 4 hours, followed by a medical examination.

Qualified candidates will then appear for a written examination of 100 marks, followed by a Viva-Voce test of 20 marks. The written examination will be objective in nature, and no negative marking will be applicable.

The last date for submission of online application is 15 March 2026 (12:00 midnight).
The dates and venues for physical tests, written examinations, and interviews will be notified later through the official CSB, BTC website.
