Gauhati
University
has issued an official notification inviting online applications from eligible
Indian citizens for recruitment to the posts of Secretary, University Classes and Academic Registrar.
The recruitment is being conducted for two
tenure-based posts, each for a period of five years.
Eligible
candidates can submit their applications online through the Gauhati University
recruitment portal. The last date for online application submission is 09 March 2026, while
the hard copy of the application must reach the University by 12 March 2026.
Details of Vacancies
The University has
advertised one post each
for Secretary, University Classes, Gauhati University, and Academic Registrar,
Gauhati University. Both posts are Unreserved
and carry the same pay structure under Academic
Level 14.
The pay scale for
both positions is ₹1,44,200
to ₹2,18,200, along with other allowances admissible as per
Gauhati University rules.
Eligibility Criteria
For both posts,
candidates must possess a Master’s
Degree with at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade from a
recognized university.
Applicants should
also have significant experience in teaching or academic administration. This
includes 15 years of
experience as Assistant Professor in Academic Level 11 or
above, or 8 years of
service in Academic Level 12 or above, including experience as
Associate Professor with exposure to educational administration.
Alternatively,
candidates with comparable
experience in research establishments or institutions of higher education
are eligible. Candidates having 15
years of administrative experience, with at least 8 years as Deputy Registrar or
equivalent, may also apply.
A Ph.D. degree is
desirable for both posts, though it is not mandatory.
Age Limit
Applicants should
be not below 45 years
and not above 55 years as on the last date of submission of the
application. The age of superannuation for these posts is 60 years.
Application Schedule
The online
registration process will commence on 23
February 2026.
The last date for online
application is 09
March 2026 (midnight).
The last date for submission
of hard copy of the application is 12 March 2026 up to 5:00 PM.
Application Fee
Candidates are
required to pay an application fee of ₹1,500
per post. For SC/ST
candidates, the application fee is ₹750 per post. The fee
must be paid online only,
and once paid, it will not be refunded.

only through the Gauhati University Non-Teaching Recruitment
Candidate Portal at https://gauhatint.samarth.edu.in/.
After submitting
the online application, candidates must send a duly signed hard copy of the completed
application along with self-attested copies of relevant documents, proof of
application fee payment, and No
Objection Certificate (NOC) wherever applicable.
The hard copy
should be sent to The
Registrar, Gauhati University, Guwahati – 781014, Assam,
clearly superscribing the envelope with the name of the post and Advt. No. NTS-02/2026.
Selection Process
Applications will
be screened by the Screening Committee, and only shortlisted candidates
will be called for interview. Mere fulfillment of minimum eligibility criteria
does not guarantee selection. The University reserves the right to restrict the
number of candidates called for interview and also to fill or not fill any of
the advertised posts.
