Overview
Indian Institute
of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati) has released an official recruitment notification
inviting online
applications from eligible Indian nationals for the post of Junior Technician.
Interested candidates must apply through the online recruitment portal only, as
no other mode of application will be accepted.
Post Name and Vacancy Details
The recruitment is
being conducted for the post of Junior
Technician.
A total of 3 vacancies
have been notified, including 2
Unreserved (UR) and 1
EWS post.
Pay Scale
The selected
candidates will be placed in Pay
Matrix Level 3 as per the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC), along
with applicable allowances as per Institute rules.
Age Limit
The upper age
limit for applicants is 27
years as on the closing date of application.
There is no upper age
limit for regular employees of IIT Guwahati. Age relaxation for
SC, ST, OBC, PwBD, and Ex-Servicemen candidates will be applicable as per
Government of India rules.
Educational Qualification
Candidates must possess any one of the following qualifications in the appropriate field:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Diploma in Engineering of three years’ duration
- ITI with at least three years of relevant work experience
Knowledge of computer applications
is mandatory. The concerned department or centre may decide the most suitable
qualification based on job requirements.
Department-wise Qualification Requirement
For the Infrastructure Planning & Management (IPM) section, candidates must have:
- ITI Certificate Course in Electrician Trade
- Minimum 3 years of experience in operation of electrical substations and DG sets
The ITI certificate
obtained after completion of 10th
standard will be considered valid.
Important Note for Previous Applicants
Candidates who
have already applied for the Junior Technician post against Advertisement No. IITG/R/10/2025 dated
18 July 2025 are not
required to apply again.
Application Fee
Applicants are
required to pay a non-refundable
application fee of ₹500 if they belong to the General or OBC
category.
SC, ST, Women, and PwBD
candidates are exempted from payment of application fees.
How to Apply
Applications must
be submitted online only
through the official IIT Guwahati recruitment portal.
No physical copy of the application or documents is required to be sent.

- Last date to apply online: 09 March 2026 till 5:00 PM
Candidates must
ensure that all required certificates, caste documents (if applicable), and
relevant proofs are uploaded correctly.
Selection Process
Selection will be
based on performance in a Written
Test and/or Skill Test conducted by the Institute. The pattern
and syllabus of the test will be notified on the official website in due
course. IIT Guwahati reserves the right to conduct additional tests if
required.
Important Instructions
Applicants must
verify their eligibility before applying. Incomplete or incorrectly filled
applications will be rejected.
Candidates already employed in Government or PSU services must upload a No Objection Certificate (NOC)
or submit an undertaking as prescribed.
